Robbie, I did not know you had such musical talent in you know. To back up your 'rapping' skills, your name already sounds like rappers...blaaze, robbie etc.....
Some people call you a rapper, others call you dapper, and you call yourself Robbie - the zapper!
Idhu eppadi irukku ;-)
BTW, Arvi - Robbie oda kamal doop voice kaetta appuram kooda ivalavu bracketaa? Venaam .. Vutru ... Nallaa illai ... (Vadivelu style). As Robbie put it, vulgarity is relative and depends much on how the mind perceives it to be .
narayan: Thanks, I wanted this to be different and personal, thats why I did it this way, I didnt want to sing and kill everyone for sure.
adengappa: My reasons for being anonymous is very simple. Being anonymous allows me that little bit of breathing space and freedom that I might not have otherwise, I do not want people in my lab to just search my name and land up reading my blog. I like this freedom.
arvind: I will work on my tamil soon! :P
raman: Are you flattering to decieve? I am sure next blogger meetla ennoda rap pathi discussion nadakkum:P
looks like audio blogging is spreading like some email virus. your kamal mimicry was awesome. can you imitate any other artiste.....hoping to hear more such audio posts from u.
Robbie - Excellent kamal imitation though I didn't follow the meaning of the dialog too much.
I have been thinking about your comment - with no reference to your posts, is vulgarity only in the mind? - I am not so sure - For e.g. - The latest rage hip hop songs - when you listen to some of those lyrics, the interpretation is not because of what is in the mind but coz the implied interpretation is quite obvious. There are other examples. But generally - it's not always in the mind. Didn't mean to stir up the topic if you wanted to get past the topic...
cosmic: Even when the interpretation is obvious, the person who wrote it need not have meant it to be vulgar. For instance by poem was about two lovers making passionate love, but it wasnt meant to be "vulgar". The two lovers try to forget their past and love is their only salvation, the moment is so intense that they forget their pasts in the passion. If someone were to read the poem without trying to understand the context yes it is going to be vulgar, if someone decided to dwell a little on the meaning which is also so obvious it is not. Now, tell me in this case is this perception or what?
Robbie - Shall we go from general to specific ? Artist's intention versus receiver's Interpretation. - please talk in general...(without reference to your posts :-) )
Cosmic: Your statement above is confusing, first you ask me to go from general to specific and then ask me to talk in general. Okay! I will try my best to be both general and specific without reference to any of my posts. Vulgarity can only be defined by perception and perception differs from person to person, what is vulgar to you might not be vulgar to me. It is therefore very dependent on perception, our opinions also, unfortunately are based on perception. I hope I made a point with this. If not lets keep on arguing.
Robbie - to set the "right perspective" - this is not an argument - each one to their own view/opinion.
To conclude my musings on the topic - once again with absolutely no reference to your posts - many a time, "art" is used as an excuse to camouflage/tuck away certain intentions. And that is one argument that cannot be contested. Why ? - Coz "Art" is open for interpretation and as you have rightly pointed out - interpretation/opinion is subject to perception.
p.s. hope there are enuf disclaimers in my post! ;-)
Cosmic: I hope its just coz its 12:03AM here and I am just about to crash into bed. What was the context? Was it vulgarity or "ARTISTS INTENT?" my head aches after having watched an immensely vulgar 'wedding crashers'. Did I just do a double take... yawn!!!:P
cosmic: I think you said it "interpretation" is based on perception, that is exactly what I meant by vulgarity depends on perception...I think that was short and sweet. I am starting to enjoy this robbie the "raangi" tag. Kinda feel like living up to it now since you guys have branded me. I felt honored when I saw the entire comments section of a blog devoted to discussing the meaning of raangi.

does this not remind of a 'bump your comments up' technique?
Good show, robbie

Do you like the "raangi" the Troublemaker or "raangi the "thimuru" tag...looks like there are different interpretations to the word !! :D
p.s. Robbie - sounds like you chose to ignore my comment about "art" being used as a camouflage... anyways.. the end.
